2011 Midwest Security & Police Event to Address Public Safety Issues; Offers Free Education & Training to Private and Public Police & Security Types

August 9, 2011 -Law enforcement, private security, and public safety professionals will be gathering in Peoria this month to learn about new products, technologies, and insights affecting public safety and the professionals whose job is to protect it.

The Midwest Security & Police Conference/Expo (MSPCE) takes place Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 23 & 24, 2011, at the Peoria Civic Center, 201 S. Jefferson Ave. and offers over thirty educational sessions plus an exposition featuring products from over a hundred and twenty industry suppliers.

Free registration opens at 7:00 am Tuesday and 8:00 am Wednesday, with conference sessions beginning an hour later. The Expo (also free to attend) is open from 11:15 am to 4:00 pm on Tuesday and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday. A cocktail reception and charity auction follows the first day's expo hours.

In addition to the dozens of well-known law enforcement and security professionals presenting in the conference program, Peoria Mayor, Jim Ardis; President of IL Chiefs of Police, RT Finney; Peoria Chief of Police, Chief Settingsgaard; Peoria County Sheriff, Michael McCoy; US Attorney Office for Southern Illinois District, Steven Wigginton; and FBI Springfield, Robert Ormerod, are expected to address the crowd and be present at the ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at the Expo entrance 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

MSPCE is produced by the Springfield-based Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police in partnership with ROC Exhibitions, Inc. of Lisle Illinois.

The event, now in its eleventh year, is being staged outside of Chicago-land for the first time, opting for the convenience of Peoria's central location in the state.
