
Baltimore (Feb. 14, 2008) — Kicking off NFMT 2008 – the facility executive’s premiere education and networking event of the year – the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will offer two educational workshops on its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008, at the Baltimore Convention Center, 1 W. Pratt St., Baltimore.
LEED encourages and accelerates adoption of sustainable green building and development practices. Pre-conference workshops are:
“LEED 101: Getting Started with Green” – 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you’re interested in green building and would like an introduction to the U.S. Green Building Council, the Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System and the project certification process, this session’s for you. Topics covered include the benefits of green building, return on investment, how to choose the appropriate rating system, green building tools and resources, and case studies with lessons learned.
The early bird registration deadline is Feb. 25, 2008. Fee is $175 for national members; $225 for nonmembers. Late registration fees are $205 for national members; $275 for nonmembers. USBGC is a registered educational program provider for AIA, ASID/IIDA, BOMI and IFMA, providing attendees with up to 3.5 HSW credits for attending a half-day educational session.
“LEED for Existing Buildings Technical Review” – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This technical session is designed for building owners, facility managers and design teams seeking to advance existing buildings to a sustainable level of operation. Topics covered include facilities upgrades, reducing building operating costs, solving building operation problems, improving indoor environment and supporting higher productivity of building occupants.
The early bird registration deadline is Feb. 25, 2008. The fee is $345 for national members; $445 for nonmembers. Late registration fees are $375 for national members; $495 for nonmembers. USBGC is a registered educational program provider for AIA, ASID/IIDA, BOMI and IFMA, providing attendees with up to 7 HSW credits for attending a full-day educational session.
The workshops are pre-conference sessions for NFMT, which features four trade shows co-located under one roof: National Facilities Management & Technology Conference & Expo, Maintenance Solutions Expo, GreenTech Conference & Expo, and the new Safe Building Expo. NFMT’s general show hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All events are free to pre-registered attendees. There is a $50 charge for on-site registration.
